Resilience Hubs
Resilience Hubs are critical facilities that communities use to enhance resilience 24/7/365. American Microgrid Solutions is the leader in delivering microgrid-powered Resilience Hubs throughout the U.S. like the award-winning community Center at A.B. Ford Park in Detroit, MI and the Cambridge Community Center in Cambridge, MA. We helped write the book, literally, on developing Resilience Hubs working with the Urban Sustainability Directors Network.

Microgrids & Resilience Hubs
What are Resilience Hubs?
Resilience Hubs are community-serving facilities like community centers, recreation centers, libraries, churches, synagogues, mosques and other faith-based centers, that have been augmented to support residents, coordinate communication, distribute resources, and reduce carbon pollution during normal conditions and emergencies.
Are Resilience Hubs the same thing as emergency shelters?
No. Resilience Hubs can complement emergency shelters during emergencies, but primarily support the community during normal conditions through a wide range of community services. In most cases, Resilience Hubs are not new buildings, but existing facilities that have been hardened to serve the community in all conditions.
Are there Resilience Hubs near me?
Every month, communities around the country have are launching Resilience Hub projects. We are developing microgrid-powered Resilience Hubs in Hawaii, California, Arizona, South Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Louisiana, Maryland, Washington DC, Massachusetts, Connecticut and more. Anywhere that extreme weather or aging utility infrastructure puts communities at risks, microgrid-powered Resilience Hubs are making a difference. To learn more about Resilience Hubs, click here.
Our Resilience Hub Projects
Resilience Incubator@FH Faunteroy (Washington, DC)
American Microgrid Solutions has designed and is managing installation of a microgrid for Washington DC's first Community Resilience Hub.
Cambridge Community Center Resilience Hub (Cambridge, MA)
Working with the Cambridge Community Center, American Microgrid Solutions designed and is managing installation of a solar + storage microgrid that will power a resilience hub serving the community.
Urban Sustainability Directors Network Resilience Hub
Working with the Urban Sustainability Directors Network, American Microgrid Solutions is optimizing Hybrid Resilient Power Systems for USDN Resiliency Hub projects.
California Indian Museum & Cultural Center Resilience Hub (Santa Rosa, CA)
American Microgrid Solutions designed and managed installation of a 77 kW solar array and will soon begin installation of a 125 kW / 220 kWh battery system for this Resilience Hub serving communities in the wildfire zone in Sonoma County, CA. The California Indian Museum & Cultural Center portrays California Indian history and culture from an Indian perspective and showcases and encourages the present-day renaissance of California Indian culture, affirming its survival and continued vitality in the face of extreme adversity.
Maui Resilience Hub Network (Maui, HI)
To overcome climate change and meet sustainability challenges, Maui County is establishing a network of Resilience Hubs on the islands of Maui, Molokaʻi, and Lānaʻi. The County engaged American Microgrid Solutions and adopted the Urban Sustainability Directors’ Network’s (USDN) Guide to Developing Resilience Hubs as its basis of design to design and develop this Network. Maui County’s Resilience Hub Network will feature up to 12 sites and will serve as a model for communities around the world.
